Panniculectomy!
Hello everyone,
So here we are at the next steps to my weight loss process with VSG! Just to recap I had my surgery done on June 27 of 2023. It is the most wonderful decision I have ever made in my life. I am so happy that life has changed for the best! I not only feel AMAZING, but I'm also mentally happy with the dedication I've shown for the surgery to succeed.
Yes, I have been stuck at 182 pounds for the past month, but I am completely ok with that, considering I've lost 125 pounds in 13 months! My goal weight is 160, and I plan to accomplish this by October. I want to accomplish this goal by October because I'm seeing a plastic surgeon for a panniculectomy. I don't want my plastic surgeon to tell me I need to hit goal before getting the surgery. I don't blame him because you shouldn't have two skin removal surgeries (unless medically necessary).
Panniculectomy is when a surgeon removes the lower part of the sagging skin resulting from extreme weight loss. I have watched my fair share of videos and reviews of this surgery, and it's honestly worrying me. I hope they won't pressure me into getting a tummy tuck because I simply can't afford that. I will take what the insurance will pay for, and I'm completely grateful for that. I feel I need a panniculectomy because I'm having a lot of itching and rashing underneath the skinfold. I've seen my PCP and a dermatologist for the past few months and nothing they've recommended has helped. So the dermatologist told me on the phone call yesterday that there's nothing he can do for me so the next step will be calling my surgeon and setting up an appointment for a skin removal.
